Man heading to work killed in ambush outside of his home near Cypress, Harris County sheriff says

The victim worked for a company near the airport for 30 years, the sheriff said.

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas — A man was found shot to death in his driveway near the Cypress area Wednesday morning, according to Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez.

This happened just after 3 a.m. outside of a home on Wimbledon Oaks in a neighborhood just north of Highway 290.

The sheriff said a man in his early 50s was getting ready to leave home to head to work when someone ambushed him and shot at his car. The victim was hit multiple times.

The sheriff said 13 shots were fired from “an AK-47 type weapon.”

The victim worked for a company near the airport for 30 years, the sheriff said.

Investigators are asking residents in the neighborhood to check footage from their surveillance cameras from around 3 a.m. and prior.
