Woman steals HFD ambulance after asking EMS crew for ride, police say

The Houston Police Department recovered the stolen ambulance at around 1:30 a.m. but did not find the woman with it.

HOUSTON — Houston police believe a woman stole a Houston Fire Department ambulance Friday night after asking an EMS crew for a ride outside a hospital in Pearland.

This happened outside Memorial Hermann Pearland Hospital. The Houston Police Department recovered the stolen ambulance at around 1:30 a.m. on Alrover Street, near the West Fuqua Street and Buffalo Speedway intersection. The woman was nowhere to be found.

According to HPD, before going into the hospital to do some work, the EMS crew told the woman they couldn't give her a ride. When they came back outside, the ambulance and the woman were gone. Police said the crew left the key in the vehicle with the windows down.
