'He will pay here on Earth' | Man arrested in deadly road rage shooting of father of 2 in north Houston

Osman Estanly Solorzano Sanchez, 32, is charged with murder in the shooting death of Ricardo Vega, 27, on W. Canino Road near the North Freeway.

HOUSTON — A man accused of shooting and killing a father of two during a suspected road rage incident was arrested on Monday, according to the Houston Police Department.

According to court documents, Osman Estanly Solorzano Sanchez, 32, is charged with murder in the shooting death of Ricardo Vega, 27. Vega was found dead in his car at a stop sign on West Canino Road near the North Freeway just before 10 p.m. on April 15 in north Houston.

Police say Vega called 911 to report the suspect had a gun before he was shot.

"The complainant states, quote, 'He’s flashing a weapon right now,'" the dispatcher said.

According to prosecutors,  Solorzano admitted he was the shooter and said he tossed the gun out the window as he sped away.

He's also charged with tampering with evidence after police said he tried to alter the appearance of his truck and license plate to avoid being caught, court documents state.

KHOU 11 News spoke with Vega’s mother just feet away from where her son was shot.

"I don’t know whether to cry, scream, whether to stay quiet, mixed emotions, I don’t know," Victoria Garcia told us. "I just know mijo was loved very, very much, not just by family but his friends, his bosses."

She's grateful his accused killer is in custody.

"It does give me relief he is off the streets and he will pay here on earth for taking that precious life away," Garcia said. "The smile my baby had, I will never see it again, I will never hear him knock at the door."

Surveillance video obtained by KHOU shows Vega, in his Toyota sedan, apparently following the suspect's truck southbound on Berwyn Drive. Vega's vehicle and  Solorzano's truck turned right from Berwyn onto Canino Drive, not far from where Vega was shot and killed.

"Mijo knew something was not right," Garcia said. "He didn’t give a warning, he didn’t shoot in the air, my son had one gunshot wound and that was to the right temple you knew what you were doing."

Currently,  Solorzano has a $150,000 bond. He waived his probable cause appearance but is expected to appear before a judge on Wednesday. Garcia is hoping  Solorzano receives the maximum punishment allowed.

"I forgive you, but I want you to also pay for what you did to my son," Garcia said.
