Man found shot to death inside burning home in southeast Houston

HPD's Homicide Division is asking anyone with information on this scene to call 713-308-3600.

HOUSTON — A man was found shot to death Thursday inside of a burning home in southeast Houston. 

This happened around 5:30 p.m. in the 6500 block of Hogue.

Houston police said witnesses reported seeing smoke coming from a home and immediately called 911. 

The Houston Fire Department arrived on scene and when they made entry inside of the home, crews found the man dead on a couch in the living room. That's when firefighters called Houston police.

After further investigation, police discovered that the man, who is 72 years old, was shot multiple times.

Arson investigators are working to figure out the cause of the fire and homicide detectives are investigating the shooting.
