Katy ISD worker accused of sending sexually explicit messages to student

The district says a paraprofessional at Morton Ranch High School has been fired following his arrest last week.

KATY, Texas — A Katy ISD worker is charged with improper relationship with a student for sending sexually explicit messages, court documents show.

Bennie Lee Solomon, 25, allegedly sent the messages in early February. The charging documents did not indicate which messaging service was used.

The Rosenberg resident worked at Morton Ranch High School as a paraprofessional until his arrest by Katy ISD police last Wednesday.

Solomon posted bond over the weekend and was released from jail, but he's due in court again on Monday.

This is the letter the sent out by Morton Ranch H.S. Principal Julie Hinson last week:

“Dear Morton Ranch High School (MRHS) Parents/Guardians and Staff,

The purpose of this message is to inform you that today the Katy ISD Police Department arrested a MRHS paraprofessional for engaging in an inappropriate relationship with a student. Upon learning of the incident, the paraprofessional was immediately removed from the school setting and was terminated.

Please be assured that the District takes these types of allegations very seriously and is fully cooperating with police. Providing a safe and secure learning environment is and will continue to be our top priority.”
