Witnesses describe road rage brawl that unfolded in busy intersection

A witness said the two people were in different cars and said it could have been road-rage..and at rush hour, no less.

SAN ANTONIO — A man and woman were fighting at the height of rush hour on the city's southeast side Thursday evening, the brawl unfolding in the middle of traffic on a busy street. And it was caught on camera.

Austen Casias said she couldn't believe what was happening in front of her family.

"My husband and I could see a gentleman essentially dragging a woman across the street, off to the side," she said. "I am thinking to myself, 'What in the world caused this altercation?'"

Casias had a front-row view to the fight. She was in the car with her husband and two kids.  They were on their way home and were stopped at the red light at Southeast Military and Pickwell.

"It is very surprising that people would get so upset that they would get out of their vehicles and have an altercation in front of God and everybody to see," Casias said.

She said she doesn't know what led up to the brawl, but the two people involved were initially in different cars. And it could have had roots in road rage.

"Why is anyone putting hands on anyone," she said. "Good grief, you don't have no care in the world for anyone's safety."

Several seconds later in the video, different people can be seen getting out of their car to break up the fight.

"It was good to see, you know, other folks take a stance that were willing to and physically able to jump out of their vehicles and intervene," Casias said.

Police did arrive, but couldn't say if if anyone was arrested or badly hurt.
