LIST: School closings, cancellations Thursday due flooding concerns

The potential threat of more flooding has forced New Caney ISD to close until Monday.

HOUSTON — Concerns over heavy rain and the potential for more flooding forced some school districts to cancel or delay classes again on Thursday:

  • New Caney ISD is closed again Thursday and Friday. State and AP testing will be rescheduled for next week.
  • Fort Bend ISD canceled classes Thursday at four campuses -- First Colony Middle School, Settlers Way Elementary, Colony Bend Elementary, Austin Parkway Elementary. All after-school activities were closed Wednesday and Thursday. Students who were not able to attend other schools because of flooding will receive an excused absence.
  • Sheldon ISD canceled all after school activities.
  • Splendora ISD canceled all after school activities.
