MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Texas — A man convicted in a severe child abuse case has been sentenced to life in prison, according to the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office.

Adam Lee Thomas was convicted by a jury of two counts of injury to a child earlier this year. A judge sentenced him to life in prison for each case, stacking the sentences. This means Thomas will not begin serving his second life sentence until he is granted parole on the first sentence.

Authorities say it was September 2017 when two very young children were taken to an area hospital before being taken to the Medical Center with various injuries. The injuries included severe head trauma, fractures to their ribs, arms, foot, a liver laceration, a burn and other injuries.

The victims, ages 2 and 3, had injuries that ranged from days to weeks old.

Detectives learned that the children had been in the care of Adam Lee Thomas and his girlfriend.

The girlfriend, Denise Watson, testified against Thomas and pled guilty to her role in failing to seek care for the children when she knew they were injured. She received two 10-year prison sentences.

Prosecutors said Thomas had criminal history including drug history, a hit and run crash causing injuries, and Evading Arrest in a Motor Vehicle.
