HOUSTON — Neighbors of the couple killed in the Harding Street raid have been skeptical from the start.
Now, some of them plan to attend a town hall meeting organized in the wake of the incident.
The home where the couple was killed has becomes a memorial. There are flowers and candles on the front stoop and biblical scriptures painted on plywood now used to cover the door and windows.
This is where 59 year-old Dennis Tuttle and 58 year-old Rhogena Douglas died during the raid back in January.
From day one, many neighbors told us they could not believe the Tuttles, as they were known, were involved in drug dealing or any other criminal activity.
They say the new information we obtained today backs that up.
The raid prompted the Greater Houston Coalition for Justice to organize a town hall meeting for next week.
The group still isn't jumping to conclusions based on what we learned today.
"I agree with the chief, let's just let the investigation play out – and, you know, we're always here to support, we're fighting for justice" said Hai Bui with the Greater Houston Coalition for Justice.
The coalition's main objective at this point is to get rid of no-knock warrants, where raids like the one at the Tuttles' home take place with no warning to people who may be inside.
