Ex-boyfriend accused of killing Anger Room owner gets out of jail after bond lowered

Nathaniel Mitchell's bond, which was initially set at $250,000, was reduced to $35,000 on Feb. 4, according to court records.

FORT WORTH, Texas — A man accused of killing his ex-girlfriend, who was the owner of a popular Deep Ellum business, has been released from jail after a judge lowered his bond earlier this month, officials said.

Nathaniel Mitchell's bond, which was initially set at $250,000, was reduced to $35,000 on Feb. 4, according to court records. He posted bond and was issued a set of bond conditions the same day.

The bond conditions included GPS monitoring and a requirement to submit urine samples for drug testing, court records said.

Mitchell is accused of killing Donna Alexander, the owner of the Anger Room, which allowed visitors to destroy household and workplace items as a way to relieve stress.

Police said Mitchell broke into Alexander's home in Grand Prairie on Sept. 21 and beat her, leaving her with fatal injuries. Alexander, a mother of two, was pronounced dead three days later.

Her family told WFAA that her relationship with Mitchell had been toxic and that she had kicked him out of her home shortly before her death.

"She was praying for God to fix him," her sister, Lauren Armour, said.

Mitchell was indicted on charges of murder, burglary with the intent to commit aggravated assault and burglary with intent to commit assault.
