Dog bite victim found dead in west Houston trained Dobermans for a living

"Her dogs were like her children. They were her life," the brother of Elaine Richman said.

HOUSTON — Houston police are investigating the death of a woman who had multiple dog bites on her face, arms and hands.

Officers found the body of 66-year-old Elaine Richman in her backyard when they answered a welfare check on Friday.

An autopsy later confirmed she died from "sharp-force injuries."

Two full-grown Doberman pinschers were inside the house in the 12000 block of Susanna Lane near Dairy Ashford in the Alief area.

Richman's brother Bruce said she trained Dobermans for a living.

"Her dogs were like her children. She was kind, compassionate," Richman told us. "She spent so many years showing Dobermans. They were her life."

Witnesses called police and asked them to check on Richman after she didn't show up for a couple of dog training classes.

Richman's dogs were turned over to BARC while the investigation into her death continues.
