Missouri City Police: Missing 16-year-old found dead in Buffalo Run Park

A dive team could be seen out on the water looking for the body around 11:30 a.m. Tuesday.

MISSOURI CITY, Texas - The body of a missing 16-year-old boy was found near a bayou in Missouri City on Tuesday, according to the Missouri City Police Department.

Officers found the boy's body at the edge of the water in Buffalo Run Park Tuesday morning.

They said they received a call about a disturbance in the park Saturday night but when officers went to the scene, they couldn't find anything.

On Sunday, they said they received a missing person report on the boy from the Houston Police Department. Missouri City officers searched the park again Sunday but couldn't find anything suspicious.

Tuesday morning, during a third search of the park, an officer found the boy's body in brush next to the bayou.

The body has been identified as 16-year-old Eduardo Eguia.

Officers said it appears the teen died of a gunshot wound but an autopsy will be conducted to confirm an official cause of death.

His death is being investigated as a homicide.
