Off-duty paramedics help save man's life in Cypress crash

Police say Monday night, the driver of a car went off an overpass on Highway 99 in Cypress and landed on Cumberland Ridge Drive below.

CYPRESS, Texas — Two off-duty Cy-Fair volunteer paramedics helped save a man’s life after they happened upon the scene of an accident in Cypress.

Cy-Fair Volunteer Fire Department says the man was driving north on SH 99 Monday night when his vehicle crashed and flew off an overpass onto Cumberland Ridge Drive below.

The two off-duty Cy-Fair paramedics were first on the scene, and saw that the man was partially pinned under the vehicle.

They helped the man, then they and an EMS crew got the man ready to be flown to Memorial Hermann Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

One of the paramedics cut her arm while she was checking on the man while he was still trapped. She refused medical treatment at the accident scene.

No word yet on what caused the accident.
