Texans share spotlight with Astros at NRG Stadium

The excitement of baseball playoff season is here, even if you're a football fan.

The Astros are not the only ones causing a buzz in Houston.

It was a great day to be a Texan's fan!

The Houston Texans ended the game against the Buffalo Bills with a big 20-13 win.

But during Major League Baseball playoffs, is it proper etiquette to wear Astros gear to football game?

Among the sea of red in the stands at NRG Stadium on Sunday afternoon, there were only a few specks of orange.

One man in the parking lot of NRG among the tailgaters donned his Astros gear while cheering on the Texans.

"It was a last-minute thing," said Astros and Texans fan Trey Tipton. "I didn't have time to go home and change clothes before I go watch the Astros game this afternoon after the Texans."

Tipton may have been the odd man out at the tailgate but nobody seemed to complain.

"I'm a big Texans fan, I'm a huge Astros fan," Tipton said. "It's all about showing love to our local teams."

Across town at a Bird's Barbershop in the Heights, a sleepy-eyed boy is getting a haircut.

Little Anderson stayed up way past his bedtime Saturday night watching the Astros win game one against the Boston Red Sox.

He said he's a Texans fan too, but right now, he's all about the Astros.

"Cause they're the better team," Anderson said. And they've been doing better than the Texans."

The boy's dad sports his Astros gear and said wear whatever you want to the games, as long as you're representing Houston.

"I think it's all good," the dad said. "I think the Texans gear works at an Astros game too."

Although it is a school night, Anderson is allowed to stay up to watch the Astros for game two against the Red Sox.

With his haircut complete, his mom and dad are letting him do something else he's normally allowed to do.

The hairstylist shakes a can of orange, temporary hair dye and pulls out a stencil with a cutout of the Astros logo, puts it on Anderson's head, and starts to spray.

The excitement of baseball playoff season is here, even if you’re a football fan.

Bird's Barbershop in the Heights will color all requesting customers' hair with Astros colors and logos for free on game days during the 2018 playoffs.
