HOUSTON - A man charged in a string of violent murders and assaults in California may be linked to the disappearance of two family members in the Houston area.

TIMELINE OF EVENTS

Aug. 26: Roy Escobar, 65, is last seen at his home in southwest Houston.

Aug. 28: Dina Escobar, 61, is last seen searching for her brother near his home.

Aug. 30: Dina Escobar’s van is found burned on a beach in Galveston

Sept. 8: A homeless man is attacked in Santa Monica, Calif. Ramon Escobar, 47, is a person of interest, according to police.

Sept. 10: A homeless man is attacked in Santa Monica. Escobar is a person of interest in the assault.

Sept. 16: Three homeless men are attacked with baseball bat in downtown Los Angeles. Two of the men die. Escobar is charged in all three attacks.

Sept. 20: A fisherman is bludgeoned to death while sleeping under the Santa Monica Pier. Police confirm Escobar is a person of interest in the case.

Sept. 24: Escobar is arrested after reportedly attacking a homeless man in Santa Monica.

Sept. 25: Houston police confirm Escobar is a person of interest in the disappearance of his aunt and uncle, Dina and Roy.

Sept. 26: U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials say Ramon Escobar was first ordered removed from the country in 1988 and deported to his native El Salvador six times between 1997 and 2011.
