Young cancer survivor meets J.J. Watt at Texans home opener

HOUSTON - A young cancer survivor who got the attention of J.J. Watt via Twitter met the star defensive end Sunday at the Houston Texans’ home opener.

Steven Garay reached out to Watt on Twitter last year after moving to Omaha, Neb., for cancer treatment. He recorded a video, telling Watt, “In my dreams, I really wish that you can meet me.”

Watt replied, “Well let’s make those dreams come true,” and invited Steven to be his guest at the 2018 home opener. He also sent Steven a care package with several pairs of sneakers and a signed jersey.

Steven’s dreams came true Sunday when, before the game, he and his family met Watt who signed items and took photos with them.

Needless to say, Steven was in awe and very happy to meet his hero.
