Watson, O'Brien with different takes on Texans play-calling

Quarterback Deshaun Watson and coach Bill O’Brien see it differently when it comes to the Houston Texans’ play-calling in their 27-22 loss to the New York Giants Sunday at NRG Stadium.

It isn’t exactly the way one would figure it though.

O’Brien in his press conference after the game said that play-calling was a problem in the loss. However, Watson took responsibility for the way the Texans played offensively and would not claim it was the play-calling.

There may be more merit in Watson’s take given the fact Houston had two drives end in turnovers while in field goal range. The first was a Lamar Miller fumble at the Giants’ 27-yard line. The second was an Alec Ogletree interception in the end zone with the line of scrimmage at the 25-yard line. In a five-point loss, those opportunities loom large and underscore that execution may be part of the Texans’ problem as they slip to 0-3.
