Deputy returns fire after man shoots weapon outside Houston club

HOUSTON – Houston police say a deputy working security exchanged gunfire with a suspect who remained on the run early Monday.

Investigators with the Houston Police Department say the incident happened around midnight Sunday in the 3300 block of Old Spanish Trail.

According to police, two patrons at a night club got into a disturbance. They left the club and went south where the argument continued. One of the men pulled out a gun and opened fire.

A Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Deputy working security heard the gunfire and went to investigate. When the suspect saw the deputy, he fired at him. The deputy returned gunfire as the suspect fled the scene.

There were no injuries reported at the scene, but it’s not known if the suspect was struck by a bullet or not.

A detailed description of the gunman has not been released.
