Family releases more details about Barbara Bush's funeral

Mourners, including First Lady Melania Trump, the Clintons and the Obamas, will sing "Amazing Grace" and recite "The Lord's Prayer" during the service.

HOUSTON — HOUSTON – The Bush family released more details Friday about the funeral for First Lady Barbara Bush.

The Bush family, led by former President George H. W. Bush, former President and Mrs. George W. Bush, former President and Mrs. Bill Clinton, former President and Mrs. Barack Obama, and First Lady Melania Trump – along with 1500 invited guests –, will gather to pay respects to the beloved matriarch.

The 90-minute service begins at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Martin’s Episcopal Church.

Mrs. Bush chose her son Gov. Jeb Bush, personal friend and confidant Susan Baker and historian Jon Meacham as eulogists. Co-celebrants for the funeral are The Rev. Dr. Russell J. Levenson, Jr., Rector at St. Martin’s Episcopal Church in Houston and The Rev. Dr. Peter Cheney, Chaplain at St. Ann’s Episcopal Church in Kennebunkport, Maine.

Songs chosen for the service include "Nearer My God, to Thee" and "My Country 'Tis of Thee." They will be performed by the St. Martin's choir.

Following the funeral service, the Bush family will proceed by motorcade through Memorial Park in Houston en route to the Bush Library in College Station for burial.

Mrs. Bush will be buried near their daughter Robin, who died of leukemia at the age of 3.

A public viewing at St. Martin’s is underway until midnight tonight. President George H.W. Bush stopped by briefly Friday afternoon to greet people who came to pay their respects.

Mrs. Bush passed away on Tuesday after battling COPD and congestive heart failure.
