“She strikes me as a really strong mom, just like my mom was. It’s part of America. It makes me feel proud to be an American,” said Peter Beckham, a library visitor from Florida.

“You know she was the matriarch. I think from what I’ve read, had a very strong influence on her husband, children, and political life,” said Mary Mazboudi, another visitor from Southern California.

On Saturday, the former First Lady will be buried on a plot of land behind the library. She will be laid to rest beside her daughter, who died of cancer as a child.

The George Bush Library and Museum will be closed to the public Friday and Saturday to prepare for the burial.
