PASADENA, Texas – A suspect is in custody following an officer-involved shooting early Monday morning in Pasadena.
According to the Pasadena Police Department, there was an officer-involved shooting around 4 a.m. Monday and were looking for the suspect in the 4400 block of Pansey near Vista.
Police said the suspect, identified as Angel Ramirez, was taken into custody just after 7:30 a.m.
Police said it started when they got a call of a suspicious man who had been ringing a woman’s front doorbell.
When a responding officer located the male suspect, he saw him jump over a wrought-iron fence, police said. The suspect then pulled out what appeared to be a gun in each hand.
Police said that is when the officer opened fire on the suspect, firing four shots. The suspect was not hit, but dropped both guns and fled.
Pasadena ISD officials were urging parents not to bring students to Turner Elementary and Bondy Intermediate School.
Around 7:30 a.m. Monday, police were able to track down the suspect and take him into custody without further incident.
School district police are in the area to ensure the safety of all students.
Busses were redirected to Phillips Field House, 2909 Dabney Drive before being sent out to the schools after the all-clear was given.
Police said they recovered three pellet guns – two that the suspect initially pulled out in front of the officer and a third that they found near where he was arrested.
Police said they used video footage from a porch camera from the initial call to quickly identify the suspect.
The suspect faces charges of evading arrest and possibly assault and deadly conduct.
