HPD: Man shot, killed in parking lot of Houston theater

Authorities say the motive behind the shooting is still under investigation, but they do believe there was a prior relationship between the person of interest and one of the witnesses involved.

HOUSTON — One person was killed in a shooting at a local theater Saturday night, according to Houston Police.

Police responded to the scene just before 10 p.m. Saturday at the AMC Gulf Pointe 30 theater at 11801 South Sam Houston Parkway. They say a man and a woman were walking out of movie theater when someone -- possibly an acquaintance of the woman -- approached them. That's when the man was shot and died at the scene.

Police have identified a person of interest in this case as 22-year-old Adrian Mondragon. They say Mondragon left the scene and is urging anyone who knows his whereabouts to contact Houston Police or Crime Stoppers.

Authorities say the motive behind the shooting is still under investigation, but they do believe there was a prior relationship between the person of interest and one of the witnesses involved.
