Caught on camera: Suspect sought in violent purse snatching outside pawn shop

Officials say the suspect forcibly grabbed the woman's purse while she tried to hang onto it. The woman was thrown to the ground, resulting in bruising, police said.

Houston police are seeking the public’s help in identifying the suspect caught on video violently snatching purse from a woman in southwest Houston.

Police say just before 4 p.m. Feb. 5, a woman was leaving a pawn shop at 13801 South Post Oak when she was suddenly approached behind by the suspect.

Officials say the suspect forcibly grabbed the woman’s purse while she tried to hang onto it. The woman was thrown to the ground, resulting in bruising, police said. The suspect was able to get away with the purse.

Police describe the suspect as a black male with medium complexion, 23 to 25 years old, 5-foot-6 to 5-foot-8, 155 to 170 pounds, wearing a gray hat, gray coat and gray pants.
