CHAMBERS COUNTY, Texas - A man has been arrested and charged with murder after a fight at a crawfish restaurant on Sunday, according to deputies.

Nicholas Cole Fregia, 25, hit Justin E. Berry, 46, in the face during a fight at The Crawfish Place near Anahuac, Texas. Berry died due to his injuries.

The Chambers County Sheriff's Office said witnesses reported that Fregia and Berry exchanged words before they got into a fight inside of the restaurant. The fight was broken up customers and staff.

Shortly after, Fregia approached Berry from behind and hit Berry on the right side of his head. Berry fell to the ground and laid there unconscious for several minutes.

Berry was transported to Bayside Community Hospital in Anahuac. His condition continued to get worse so he was transferred to Memorial Hermann in Houston by life flight. He later died.

Fregia had already left the scene when police and EMS arrived.

Chambers County detectives were able to establish probable cause to charge Fregia with Berry's death. An arrest warrant was issued charging him with murder, a first degree felony.

Detectives said they were able to make contact with Fregia, who said he would surrender himself, but eventually Fregia stopped all contact with authorities. Detectives were able to track Fregia to a motel in Cleveland, Texas and with the assistance of the Cleveland Police Department Fregia was arrested without further incident.

Fregia was transported back to Chambers County Jail in Anahuac where he is being held on a $200,000 bond and ordered to wear an ankle monitor as a condition of release.
