Conroe police arrest suspect who shot at officer during traffic stop

The Conroe Police Department said Raymond Cole Lynch, 27, is in Montgomery County jail. He was arrested without further violence.

CONROE, Texas - Police have arrested a suspect accused of shooting at an officer during a traffic stop on Tuesday.

The Conroe Police Department said Raymond Cole Lynch, 27, is in Montgomery County jail. He was arrested without further violence.

The combined efforts of the Texas Rangers, US Marshals, Hunstiville Police Department, the suspect's family and many more led to the arrest of Lynch.

According to the Conroe Police Department, on March 27 an officer was conducting a traffic stop around 4:15 a.m. on Interstate 45 near Gladstell Road. As the officer approached the black Lexus, Lynch leaned out of his car and opened fire on the officer.

Police said the officer was not hit and returned fire as Lynch sped off. Lynch's vehicle was found burned in a wooded area near Crater Hill Road just north of FM 3083.

It is not known if Lynch was wounded in the exchange.
