HOUSTON – A man was shot and killed during an altercation with residents after police say he was trying to break into their truck outside of a northeast Houston home overnight.
According to the Houston Police Department, officers responded to a call of a shooting at 11 p.m. Tuesday at a home located in the 7400 block of Langley near Navasota.
When HPD arrived at the scene, officers found a man dead outside of the home. The residents said they heard noise coming from outside the home and saw the man breaking into their truck.
The residents armed themselves and went outside where an altercation ensued, police said. During the altercation the suspect was shot.
Homicide detectives are investigating and will consult with the District Attorney’s Office to see if any charges will be filed or if the case will be presented to the grand jury.
Police did not reveal if the suspect was armed.
