Thieves use U-Haul to steal from front porches in Fort Bend County

FORT BEND COUNTY, Texas - The Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help in locating the thieves who targeted several homes in the Harvest Green subdivision.

At approximately 4:20 a.m. on Thursday, March 15, 2018, a man and woman were caught on home surveillance cameras walking door to door on Butterfly Garden Trail, stealing patio furniture then putting it inside a U-Haul being driven by a third person.

At least three homes were targeted including a Tonya Schenk’s. She was on vacation at the time and noticed her furniture was missing when she returned home on Saturday.

Upon reviewing their Ring Doorbell surveillance camera, they saw the thieves in action.

“It showed a female and male walking up to the patio and actually taking the chairs one at a time with a long U-Haul, just kind of creeping along as they were just throwing them in,” said Schenk. “Going from house to house to house along the street.”

Schenk says her son was home at the time of the theft.

“For something like that to happen… and him being right at home, it just made me nervous.” she said. “It was very upsetting to me. I work hard for my money and for me to come home and see them stolen made me very angry.”

Crime Stoppers is offering up to $5,000 for information that leads to an arrest and Sheriff Troy Nehls said he wants to take whoever turns them in to lunch, tweeting:

“We have great video, so we are hoping someone out there recognizes the suspects. In addition to the Crime Stoppers reward, I'd like to treat the individual to lunch that comes forward with information that allows us to put these crooks behind bars!”

Anyone with information should call (281) 342-TIPS.
