HOUSTON – A woman is in custody after jumping into a police car and leading officers on a chase in west Houston overnight.

According to the Houston Police Department, just after midnight early Wednesday an officer DWI unit had a drunk driver pulled over on Post Oak at West Loop. He had already arrested the male DWI suspect and was put in the back seat of his police car.

Police said the officer then walked back to the DWI suspect's car inventory it and to do some paper work. While he was near the other vehicle, a woman came from the wooded area and jumped in the running police car and took off with the DWI suspect in the backseat.

The police officer jumped in the second patrol unit and they gave chase to Pine Hollow, police said. That is where the female suddenly stopped in front of a security police car that was parked in the neighborhood.

Police said they believed she may have thought they pinned her in. She was taken into custody without incident.
