Police: Son beat father to death with baseball bat in front of mother

A late night argument turned deadly after police say a son beat his father to death with a baseball bat.

HOUSTON – A late-night argument turned deadly after police say a son allegedly beat his father to death with a baseball bat.

According to the Houston Police Department, it happened in southwest Houston in the 6700 block of Sylmar Road.

Police said the suspect is still at large Tuesday morning.

Police said the suspect’s mother was close by when the deadly assault took place. She was just a few feet away when she saw her 29-year-old son beat his 64-year-old father to death using an aluminum bat.

Police said she is okay and ws not injured during the incident. Police have this section of the neighborhood closed off as they look for her son who took off on foot.

Police no not know much at this time, but they say at least three people, including the mother, saw the beating happen outside their house.

Neighbors called 911 immediately following the assault. It is still not known what the argument was about, and why it got so heated.

Police say neighbors have told them they’ve heard a lot of shouting between the two in the last couple of months.

Now, they’re trying to piece things together.

Police have not released have a description of the suspect other than that he’s 29 years old.
