SUGAR LAND, Texas - A man accused of stealing wallets out of women’s purses around the Sugar Land Town Center area has been arrested.

Christian Santos, 38, was arrested after police say he took a wallet from an employee’s purse at Panera Bread in the 1900 block of State Highway 6 last week. Police say he was chased by an employee and a witness before he was cornered at Jamba Juice in the 2100 block of Texas Drive.

Police identified Santos as the same man they say helped a woman steal a wallet from someone’s purse at the same Panera Bread location on Feb. 4. Detectives say Santos and his alleged accomplices are responsible for at least four similar crimes in the Sugar Land Town Center area since Jan. 15.

Police believe Santos may have provided a fake name, and they need the public’s help in finding his true identity. They are also looking for a second man who was used as a lookout during the crime.

Anyone with information should call the Sugar Land Police Department at (281)-275-2540 or Fort Bend County Crime Stoppers at (281)-342-TIPS (8477).
