The Woodlands among best places to raise a family nationwide, according to study

The Pittsburgh-based review company ranked the master-planned community north of Houston as the No. 2 best place to raise a family nationwide on its 2018 list released March 9. Plano came next at No. 3, but both Texas cities were beat by Chicago suburb Naperville, Illinois.

Niche has confirmed what many residents in The Woodlands already know: It’s a great place to raise a family.

The Pittsburgh-based review company ranked the master-planned community north of Houston as the No. 2 best place to raise a family nationwide on its 2018 list released March 9. Plano came next at No. 3, but both Texas cities were beat by Chicago suburb Naperville, Illinois.

The 2018 "Best Places to Raise a Family" list evaluated 15,000 cities on several factors, including school performance, cost of living, crime and safety, amenities and more. Data came from Niche reviews, the U.S. Census Bureau and other government sources.

The Woodlands received an overall A+ Niche Grade with high marks in the public schools, jobs and “good for families” categories. It also ranked as the third-best city to buy a house in America and was No. 7 on Niche’s Best Cities to Live in America.
