Police are asking for the public's help in a cold case involving a fatal hit-and-run that left a 19-year-old dead in southeast Houston.

HOUSTON – Police are asking for the public’s help in a cold case involving a fatal hit-and-run that left a 19-year-old dead in southeast Houston.

According to the Houston Police Department, at 3 a.m. on Dec. 19, 2016, Shelby Bustamante, 19, was struck and killed by a vehicle driving north on the 2200 block of the Gulf Freeway.

During the incident, Bustamante exited a vehicle she was a passenger in and was struck by a red GMC or Chevrolet pickup truck, police said. The suspect driver fled the scene of the accident without rendering aid to the victim.

The suspect vehicle south on Interstate 59 toward the Southmore Boulevard exit. There is no additional information about the suspect at this time.

Suspect Vehicle Description: Red GMC or Chevrolet pickup truck with a white “fox” sticker on the back window.
