Three suspects arrested, charged with aiding inmates escape from Bexar Co. Jail

The Bexar County Sheriff's Office has arrested three suspects and added charges to four inmates for helping three inmates escape from the Bexar County Jail last week.

The Bexar County Sheriff's Office has arrested three suspects and charged them with aiding three inmates when they escaped from the Bexar County Jail last week.

The three that were arrested are Michelle Rodriguez, Gabriella Arroyo, and Marcus Maldonado. The charges they face are for escaping felony custody in a correctional facility, a third-degree felony.

The three could face further charges involving organized crime or conspiracy in the future.

BCSO had Arroyo do a perp walk on Thursday afternoon. Sheriff Javier Salazar said that Arroyo is the mother of one of the suspects.

The sheriff went on to say that the three smuggled contraband into the jail to the inmates including narcotics, prescription drugs, and tools used in the escape. One of the suspects was reportedly able to drop the items into the jail's recreation area using a fishing line.

The sheriff's office investigation revealed that after the contraband was dropped to the inmates, they were able to climb to the top of the rec area and saw down the bars over time so that they could escape.

Four inmates are reported to have helped the other three escape. Since those inmates are already in custody at the jail, they will have charges added to what they were facing that put them in jail in the first place.

The sheriff's office also said that they are working with the county to improve the security inside the facility to prevent further escapes. They also said that they believe they have everyone involved and they have no direct evidence that any deputies were involved in the escape.
