HOUSTON – Police say a man flagged down an ambulance for help after being shot in northeast Houston overnight.

According to the Houston Police Department, officers responded at 3 a.m. Thursday to a call of a shooting on Tidwell near Dandy.

When HPD arrived at the scene, officers found a man shot once while in his car. Police said the victim was shot at some other location.

Police said he then jumped in his car and was trying to drive to a hospital, when he noticed an Houston Fire Department ambulance on Tidwell. He waved the ambulance down, and that ambulance called for another one since they already had a patient.

The second ambulance transported the shooting victim to a local hospital in serious but stable condition, police said.

HPD officers went to the hospital to see if they could get information from the victim as to where the shooting happened and why.
