HOUSTON — A man faces charges after police say he shot a partygoer in a garage apartment early Sunday morning, police say.

According to the Houston Police Department, Jason Allen Griffin is charged with manslaughter, felony possession of a weapon and unlawful possession of body armor in connection with the death of Daniel Barber

Police said the victim was throwing a party in his home near Rutland Street and West 23rd Street when he put on a bullet proof vest and a man, now identified as Griffin, allegedly shot him.

Barber was pronounced dead at the scene.

Homicide detectives said it is unclear if the bullet went through the vest or hit the victim directly.
