Man dies after truck catches fire in crash on US 59

Investigators said the man was pinned between his truck and the interstate barricade when the vehicle caught fire.

HOUSTON - A man died after he was involved in an accident on US 59 in north Houston early Sunday morning.

According to Harris County Sheriff's deputies, the crash happened around 1 a.m. on the Eastex Freeway at Aldine Bender.

Deputies said the man was driving a Ford F150 truck when he stopped the vehicle on the interstate in moving lanes of traffic.

Investigators said his truck might have stalled and he was not inside when a Ford F350 truck crashed into it.

According to Sgt. Simon Cheng with the Harris County Sheriff's Office, the truck spun around from the impact and pinned the man between the truck and the interstate barricade. The vehicle then caught fire.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity has not yet been released.

The driver of the F350 truck was not injured. Investigators said they will conduct a blood alcohol test to determine if he was intoxicated.
