Houston Texans general manager Biran Gaine faced the media on Wednesday morning during the NFL Scouting Combine press conferences. The recently hired GM hit on many subjects. One of the topics where Gaine really elaborated on his answer was the offensive line.

Gaine was asked if he was looking for continuity along the offensive line?

“That’s very important,” Gaine responded. “I think any offensive line coach or offensive coordinator would tell you that that’s a critical part to building an offensive line unit. So, that’s something that we’re working on to address both in-house and externally as it relates to options both either through free agency and/or the draft, but continuity is critically important, I think, to the success of any offensive line. They communicate. I mean, there’s parts of the game now that, at least I feel like I’m familiar with, that outside of the physical part of it, the communication part of playing the offensive line and working together as a unit is critically important to the success of the group.”

It’s an interesting comment because the Texans are faced with three starters from last year — left tackle Chris Clark, left guard Xavier Su’a-Filo and right tackle Breno Giacomini — all hitting free agency. None played well enough to merit strong consideration to return, either.
