Man found dead inside home, woman injured after shooting in Cypress

CYPRESS, Texas – A man was found dead and a woman was injured after a shooting in Cypress Saturday afternoon.

Harris County Sheriff’s investigators believe the shooting is likely a domestic case.

Deputies were called to the scene by two children who were upstairs in the home off Coralbend Drive.

When they arrived, deputies found a 35-year-old man dead in the home’s foyer and a 43-year-old woman shot in the neck. She was taken to the hospital and her condition is unknown at this time.

A spokesperson for the sheriff’s office tells KHOU 11 News, it’s unclear how the two are related, but neighbors say the couple were in a relationship and had lived in the home for a decade.

The sound of police sirens Saturday afternoon sent neighbors into their yards wondering what had happened.

Lauri Hardeman, who lives just down the street said, “From the time I heard the first two police officers speeding down the street, we knew something was going on with our neighbors.”

Hardeman says she watched officers kick in the home’s front door. Homicide investigators with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office are now questioning the two children as witnesses.

It's unclear at this time what led to the shooting.

HCSO spokesperson Thomas Gilliland says investigators will be looking for gunshot residue on the two victims to try and determine what happened. He added the gun used in the shooting was recovered at the scene.
