BBQ cook off and Rodeo parade forecast

The day of the chuck wagons and steer could be as warm as its been all year! With high temperatures pushing up to near 80 degrees, it'll be a warm afternoon but the question is, will it rain on our parade?

This isn't my first rodeo when it comes to a dicey forecast. Growing up in Houston, it's an unspoken rule that expect any and all weather at any time.

While there is rain on the radar, most of the heavy showers remain to the west of Houston as of this entry but we'll continue to see splash and dash showers throughout the day.

Heavier rain could become an issue late this evening into the overnight hours as a cold front works its way into the region and stalls out. This will focus heavy rain mainly along and south of I-10 for most of Sunday. Areas north of I-10 will likely see some rain too but to a lesser extent.

So to round it up, yes, there is a chance of rain today and that rain chance will increase heading into the evening and overnight hours but I think the rodeo parade and most of the cook off will be dry.

However, keep an eye on the livestock! They may be better meteorologists.

According to folklore, "tails pointed west, weather's the best. Tails pointed east, weather's the least." Cattle and horses graze facing downwind. It's a defense mechanism so they can smell any predator coming up behind them. A west wind is a dry, warm wind for us. An east or southeast wind is a moist, humid wind. Therefore, keep an eye on the animals. When the horses begin to 'nay', rain could be on the way.

Although that ridiculous rodent in Pennsylvania promised six more weeks of winter and it's warmer now than it has been in months so take it for what it's worth.
