Houston police dogs get new vests

Six police dogs get vests courtesy of a charity that outfits K-9s across the country. The vests protect the dogs against bullet and stab wounds. The K-9s and their handlers work for Harris County Constable Precinct 1.

Six K-9s got a lot more protection on the job thanks to a charity that outfits police dogs across the country with protective vests.

K-9s LeMans, Bax, Edge, Lethal, Edo and Stori got the vests, which will protect them from bullet and stab wounds. The dogs and their handlers work at Harris County Constable Precinct 1.

The dogs' vests have embroidery on them with names of other police dogs who lost their lives. Edge's vest has embroidered on it: " Honoring those who served and sacrificed."

Precinct 1 says Vested Interest in K9s made the donation. The charity donates the vests to law enforcement agencies across the country. Precinct 1 says the vests are valued between $1,700 to $2,300 and weigh between 4 to 5 pounds.
