A 22-year-old driver is facing charges after leading police on a high-speed chase through the Heights.
It happened in the middle of rush hour traffic Thursday evening. Houston Police say John Chavez was wanted for arson. Houston Fire investigators spotted Chavez in traffic and radioed HPD to pull him over. When officers pulled up, Chavez took off.
The suspect lost control of his car at the intersection of Long Point and Hempstead Road. Air 11 was over the scene as Chavez climbed out of the passenger side of the Ford Fusion he was driving.
Houston Police say the 22-year-old has now been arrested on his already existing arson warrant and will also face a charge of trying to elude police.
