Heavy rain tonight

Rainfall totals through Saturday 2/10/18 will run between 1/2" and 4". This could lead to street flooding in the typical prone areas: low spots, underpasses, feeder roads. Flood waters are harder to identify at night, so drive carefully tonight.

As you head out on this Friday night, prepare for rain. It'll first come as as isolated showers, then become a steadier and heavier rain after 10pm. Embedded downpours and thunderstorms are likely after midnight and it's under these highly localized areas, up to 2"/hour could fall leading to street flooding in the typical areas. Rainfall totals will rain from 1/2" to as many as 4" before the heaviest ends, but this could still cause problems, especially at night, when it's harder to identify flood waters when driving.

Expect periodic rain for Mardi Gras in Galveston just about all day, making for what some will interpret as a wash-out. The chance for rain is 80%. While a wet day is in the forecast, outlooks are not contracts, thus we may get lucky and catch a drier day than expected. But, as always be prepared and expect the worst.

The kids will love the puddles, driving your car may be a challenge and in your home, you'll be going from AC to 'heat' Sunday, as much colder air arrives to round-out the weekend and highs struggle to reach the mid-40s.
