Bruce Springsteen signs kid's tardy note because 'he rocks'

An unintended consequence of the River Tour 2016? Bruce Springsteen is contributing  to the delinquency of minors across the country.

Earlier in the tour, a creative dad in New York state used to the "Springsteen played for three and a half hours" excuse for his kid when she was late for class. Now Springsteen himself has penned a note explaining that nine-year-old Xabi Glovsky was late for school after seeing a Springsteen and the E Street Band show in Los Angeles, according to Backstreets.com.

Xabi held up a sign at the March 15 show stating: "BRUCE, I WILL BE LATE TO SCHOOL TOMORROW PLEASE SIGN MY NOTE :)"

The Boss saw the sign.

"As Bruce walked off stage after the show, he looked up and saw my son's sign...he pointed to us and pointed to one of the security crew. About three minutes later, security came to our seats and escorted us backstage," said Xabi's dad, Scott Clovsky, to Backstreets.com.

"We waited outside Bruce's dressing room, then he came to the door and invited us in. Although there were many musicians and celebrities at the concert, we were the first people to see Bruce after the show. He said, 'There's the big guy!' to my son. It was just the three of us. He then said, 'I understand that you need a note, I think I can help you out.'

"Bruce sat down on a couch and started to talk with Xabi, asking for the name of his teacher and how Xabi spelled his name, pulling out a piece of paper and a pen. As Xabi sat next to him on the couch, Bruce thoughtfully and artistically created this beautiful note. It was very interesting to watch the artist at work. They talked for a few minutes, and Bruce was incredibly nice, caring and gracious."

Springsteen wrote: "Dear Ms. Jackson, Xabi has been out very late rocking and rolling. Please excuse him if he is tardy!"

The Boss signed the note and drew a little picture of a guitar. Presumably it was aFender Esquire-Telecaster hybrid.
