New 'Veep' trailer: Less chaotic than the actual 2016 elections

Who would have thought that the 2016 presidential race would make Veep look like a sane depiction of Washington?

In a new trailer for season 5 of the Julia Louis-Dreyfus-led political comedy, Selina Meyer and co. navigate a new set of misadventures, ones that are supposed to show the dysfunction of America's political climate.

But with the Republican race headed towards a contested convention, Selina's "tied election" doesn't seem beyond the realm of possibilities. As Selina's team frets about whether she's "looking presidential" as she messes up interviews and sleeps with a Wall Street exec, let's remember that the leading Republican candidate literally discussed his anatomical dimensions as a debate point. And Jonah Ryan definitely seems as capable, if not more, of running a nation as Ben Carson.

Politics aside, since the answer to "Which Mad Men character would Selina Meyer sleep with?" is obviously "Roger Sterling," we're happy to see John Slattery show up as a guest star in a post-coitus interaction with the Veep.

Back at it again!

Veep returns to HBO on April 24.
