Olivia Wilde was too old for 'Wolf of Wall Street'

If you asked us, we’d say Olivia Wilde was one of Hollywood’s freshest young faces. But what do we know, right?

On Howard Stern's show, after being asked if she’s ever lost out on a role because she’s “too beautiful,” the 32-year-old actress talked about auditioning for Martin Scorsese’s The Wolf Of Wall Street, and getting turned down for the role of Leonardo DiCaprio's wife because she was too “sophisticated.”

Later, she learned that word was code for something else entirely.

"The funniest thing I heard recently was I had heard for a part that I was too sophisticated. And I was like, 'Oh, that sounds nice. I like that feedback. I didn't get the part, but I'm a very sophisticated person.' And then I found out later that they actually said "old." I want to make a translation sheet for Hollywood that's all the feedback your agents give you and what it really means.

We'd really like to see that translation sheet, Olivia!

One small consolation: Scorsese didn't make her audition for her new role in his HBO series Vinyl.

I did not [have to audition for Vinyl], because I had auditioned unsuccessfully for Wolf of Wall Street, that's the one I was too old for.

She went on to clarify her comments on Twitter, shouting out the awesome performance of the woman Scorsese cast instead, the 25-year-old Margot Robbie.

For the record, Leo is 41.
