George Martin, the man who produced much of the Beatles' music, has died at age 90, according to media reports.

Martin's manager, Adam Sharp of CA Management, confirmed the news and said Martin's family "would like to thank everyone for their thoughts, prayers and messages of support," the Associated Press reports.

"God bless George Martin peace and love to Judy and his family," Ringo Starr tweeted after hearing the news. "George will be missed."

Ringo followed that tweet with one saying "Thank you for all your love and kindness George peace and love," along with a photo of Martin hanging out with the Fab Four.

Paul McCartney spoke of his sadness to hear the news of Martin's passing in a post on his website.

"I have so many wonderful memories of this great man that will be with me forever," he said. "He was a true gentleman and like a second father to me. He guided the career of The Beatles with such skill and good humour that he became a true friend to me and my family. If anyone earned the title of the fifth Beatle it was George."

Martin earned the title of the "fifth Beatle" after signing the band to their first record contract in 1962 and working with them through the iconic album Abbey Road, according to Rolling Stone.

British Prime Minister David Cameron also tweeted about the producer's death. "Sir George Martin was a giant of music," Cameron wrote. "Working with the Fab Four to create the world's most enduring pop music."
