Kim Kardashian wrote in essay on her website about why she posted nude pics and why everyone should not be mean out about it.

Like many celebrities before her (especially her husband) Kim Kardashian has recently exercised her right to vent on Twitter. However, after tweeting disses to Bette Midler (who commented about Kardashian's nude photo), a defense of her right to post sexy selfies and brags about her monetary success, Kardashian was apparently not satisfied with her social-media rebuttal.

Kim Kardashian fires back at Bette Midler, posts another nude photo

So, she wrote an essay.

And she posted it to her website (which means you have to sign up for her site to read it-- damn, she's good).

It's called #StraightUp: Happy International Women's Day. It begins:

"Hey, guys. I wanted to write a post elaborating on my tweets last night. In all seriousness, I never understand why people get so bothered by what other people choose to do with their lives."

Kardashian continues:

"I don't do drugs, I hardly drink, I've never committed a crime—and yet I'm a bad role model for being proud of my body?"

She seems to think it all goes back to the sex tape she made "13 YEARS AGO," as she writes. "Let's move on, already. I have," she said. (Though we're not actually sure that was why people were tweeting at her...? OK we'll keep reading.)

Kardashian then writes about how she's "empowered" by her body, sexuality, flaws, loving husband and the fact that she's unafraid of ridicule.

"And I hope that through this platform I have been given, I can encourage the same empowerment for girls and women all over the world."

She writes she's "lucky" to have grown up around "independent woman" who have taught her to be proud. And she says that that's enough of the "body-shaming and slut-shaming."

She signs off with this:

"I am a mother. I am a wife, a sister, a daughter, an entrepreneur and I am allowed to be sexy. #internationalwomensday "

Oh and she joined Snapchat, as this seemed like as opportune a time as any. Her handle includes a peach emoji that looks like the curves in her now well-debated photos because she is if nothing else a master of her brand. Let's hope she doesn't trademark the fruit.

Our takeaway: Kim will continue to proudly post nude selfies, because #empowerment. Now including Snapchat! And, um, just unfollow her if you don't want to see them? And let's stop talking about sex tapes, even though we honestly didn't know people were still talking about that? OK, yeah!
