Hailee Steinfeld is used to dissecting the meaning of her songs.

At the Vanity Fair and L'Oreal Paris DJ Night she hosted in West Hollywood Friday, she talked about how, yes, her pop tune Love Yourself, has been interpreted as a song about the joys of masturbation. And that's not an inaccurate read of the hit.

"Obviously, there were tons of speculation when the song first came out (last summer). Some people thought it had one meaning, some thought it had two or three. To me, it's a self-empowering anthem, whether that means physically, emotionally, or material things," she said.

Steinfeld's new single, however, isn't about self-love, but the pain of romantic-love. The catchy song, Rock Bottom, which was just re-released with Joe Jonas and his band DNCE, has a lyric video.

"It's not a break-up song," Steinfeld clarified.  "I really feel like 'Rock Bottom' explains the impossible to explain: The idea that when we love someone so much, we allow them to drive us absolutely insane, but we only do that because we love them. And we keep on coming back for more, because we can't live without them."

We're worried that this new earworm could have the same effect on listeners.
