Elton John concert to stream live Saturday

Saturday afternoon's alright for singing, especially if we're talking about superstar Elton John.

The singer will turn a fabled nighttime music area, the Sunset Strip in West Hollywood, Calif., into a shining daytime venue with a free live concert Saturday (3 p.m. ET/noon PT) in the lot in front of the former Tower Records, which was one of the music aficionado's favorite destinations.

Fans can stream the live, hour-long pop-up show, which will feature famous hits plus songs from his new album, Wonderful Crazy Night, at AOL.com.

Elton John Live on the Sunset Strip, a concert presented by AOL Build and BBVA Compass, is the international star's way of showing his gratitude to West Hollywood for supporting The Elton John AIDS Foundation and his annual Academy Awards viewing party. The singer and his husband, David Furnish, will host the 24th edition of the Oscars party on Sunday at West Hollywood Park.

"The City of West Hollywood has welcomed the Elton John AIDS Foundation and our annual Academy Awards viewing party with open arms for many years, providing us with the perfect environment to host a really fun and special evening,” the singer said in a statement. “We are profoundly grateful for their generous support, so I wanted to do something special just for them by giving our West Hollywood fans and supporters a surprise concert.  Thank you, West Hollywood!"

John's "iconic stature spans generations and we're excited for the opportunity to bring this incredible experience to his fans and our millions of viewers worldwide," AOL's Jimmy Maymann said in a statement.
