Yes, we're serious, Bill.

"I might just be the black Bill Gates in the making."

Those lyrics from Beyoncé's electrifying song Formation may have meant a lot to us, but they apparently don't mean much to Bill Gates.

One of the most well-known tech billionaires in the world was surprised that he would be mentioned in a hip hop song, much less one that considers him the pinnacle of success.

“I said, 'Are you serious? This is kind of a strange set of words here.' I’m surprised," he said in a Wired interview about protecting customers' private information from the FBI. A coworker reportedly told him about the song lyrics in an email.

"I guess it’s nice that people consider me successful," Gates said.

Yeah, it's nice.

Gates, who has never met the Queen Bey, has met Jay-Z, "because when I did some humor right when I was retiring from Microsoft — he was nice about participating in that and did a great job on that."

As it finally dawned on Gates that he might be famous, he turned to the obvious solution: Bing.

"I guess I should do a Bing search and see if there are more uses of my name that I don’t know about."
